Programme Managers

There are currently three programme managers, Aoife, Suzanne and Andras. One programme manager will be assigned to manage your programme. However, if your programme manager is on leave or absent for whatever reason then another programme manager will temporarily look after your course.

Aoife Burke

Area(s) of Responsibility

Project manage programmes organising the shape and content of courses which includes designing, evaluating and teaching on bespoke programmes and creating assessment schemes. I also coordinate and supervise teams of tutors and visiting lecturers and am part of the business development team bringing in new university clients.

Professional Interests

Professional interests include English Language Teaching teacher training, CPD, creativity and designing innovative lessons materials which incorporate experiential learning and the use of technology.

External Activities

I am currently a speaking examiner for the suite of Cambridge English exams.

Further Information

I have a BA in Sociology and Politics and Legal Science, an LLB in Law, a Diploma in English Language Teaching and an MA in Education (Leadership and Management). I have worked at universities and language schools in the UK, Spain and Japan. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Suzanne Khouja

Area(s) of Responsibility

Professional Interests

Professional interests include intercultural competence, academic skills and the development of external english exam preparation, especially IELTS and the development of new material incorporating new trends and methodologies.

Further Information

I have worked as an English language teacher in Spain, France and Japan and now work at the University of York. I have experience with examination boards and was an oral examiner for Cambridge. I have an MA in Applied Linguistics.

My professional interests include EFL, teacher training, business development, using ICT in teaching, and design.

External Activities

I have got a small ELT consultancy that focuses on Hungary and the UK.

Further Information

I have an MA in Teaching English Language and Literature, as well as a Cambridge English Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I have worked in various roles within the secondary, higher and private language education sectors in Hungary and the UK.

Naomi Pennington

Area(s) of Responsibility

Teaching English, intercultural competence, academic skills and creativity. I am also involved in the development of materials and resources for bespoke courses.

Professional interests include intercultural competence, CPD and the creation and delivery of innovative and relevant lesson materials for international students.

Further Information

I have taught at schools and universities in Italy, Japan and Australia, as well as primary and secondary schools around Europe. I hold a Trinity CertTESOL and an MSc in Conservation and Resource Management.
