The tutors below work with us year-round. We also casually contract extra tutors at peak times throughout the year. The majority of our causal tutors have worked with us for a number of years.

Further Information

I have worked as a primary school teacher in the UK, an employability skills tutor in the Middle East and now work at the University of York. I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (primary), a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and English Literature, and a Masters in Education.

Judith Pett

Professional Interests

My professional interests include teaching exam skills effectively (particularly IELTS), innovative and useful approaches to grammar, the creation and delivery of innovative and relevant lesson materials for international students and approaches to enabling all students to achieve their potential.

Further information

I have worked as a primary school teacher in the UK, completed my EFL teaching training in Hungary and have worked in the UK language school and private secondary school sectors for almost 20 years. I have written a series of online grammar and vocabulary materials. I have a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Philosophy, a Cambridge Diploma in English Language Teaching and an MA in Medieval Archaeology.

Further Information

For the past few years I have been working in Higher Education in the UK, working on pre-sessional and post-graduate in-sessional programmes. Prior to this, I taught in Vietnam for three years where I worked for the British Council teaching a mix of General English and IELTS preparation courses. I also worked in Lisbon, Portugal for three years where I taught General English, Cambridge preparation classes, and Business English in the Portuguese national bank. My academic background is in English Literature, and Education. I hold a Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages (DipTESOL).
