DECS Services consist of a small team who administer all ‘people related’ processes and activity across our directorate and provide support to our four Directors.
The PAs within our team support the Directors by working closely with them and providing a bespoke service by managing their diaries and emails, preparing papers and communications and arranging and supporting meetings in a professional manner.
The Recruitment & Training section of our team work closely with colleagues in HR, to ensure that within DECS, our roles are graded consistently and that recruitments and role changes are processed fairly and swiftly. They also provide more comprehensive support to Cleaning Services on behalf of HR.
The team are also responsible for DECS training activity, in particular the statutory, mandatory and specific role requirements that are not available via the University’s central Professional Organisation & Development team. We source and book bespoke training and manage the DECS central training budget and related activities.
We also support the Time & Attendance System (T&A/Kronos) and input the rotas and shift patterns for the approximately 400 members of DECS staff that use it.
In addition, our team oversees the DECS Rewards, including Making the Difference, Rewarding Excellence, Succession Planning and Skills Development. We also coordinate and champion apprenticeships within DECS.
Much of our workload is of a personal or sensitive nature and we endeavour to provide a professional, confidential and most importantly, helpful service to our colleagues across DECS.
