Current Quota levels

When you login to viking, you will land in your home directory:

/users/abc123

There is also a scratch folder inside your home directory:

/users/abc123/scratch

All users are give a 3TB filestore quota on scratch, and 50GB in their home directory /users/abc123.  We also have a "number of files" limit in /users/abc123 of 100K.  Below is a summary:

Checking your quota

To check how much space you have left, run the following command:

[abc123@login1(viking) scratch]$ myquota


This will produce the following 

Scratch quota:

What happens when you go over quota

When you login to Viking you will be told if you are over quota.  If this is in users area you will need to either delete or move your files to scratch.  There is a grace period of 7 days after which you will lose access to Viking. 

If you are over quota in the scratch area and need more space email  itsupport@york.ac.uk where we can increase your quota. There is a grace period of 7 days after which you will lose access to Viking.
